The pandemic may have slowed down our comings and goings, but not the flow of words online. Opinions stream in … Should we wear masks? Should kids go back to school? How much will remote learning set them back? Is it safe to go to work or to be out in public? How long will the economy survive if we don’t get back to work? How long will it take to develop a vaccine?
It’s easy to get distracted with swirling opinions, but what does Scripture say? What encouragement can we take from the Bible during these strange and uncertain times?
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV*)
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. (Psalm 23:4)
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD! (Psalm 27:14)
Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. (1 Corinthians 16:13)
Now is not the time to stay silent. We don’t stoke the debates that are sparked by stormy emotions, but we give our best to spreading God’s message of hope during the pandemic. If current demands on our time make blogging every week difficult, then we can scale back to every other week.
How about you? Have you been able to blog for the last five months? The world still needs to hear messages filled with God’s truth and love. So what can we share on our blogs?
Pick some of the topics below to blog about for the rest of year. You could even create a series, and ask friends to guest post for you. Which of these topics resonate with you, and which would resonate with your audience?
- Overcoming fear and anxiety
- Ways to make a difference in a socially “distant” world
- Bible verses that renew strength in tough times
- People in the Bible who faced a crisis – their response and God’s work
- The promises of God
- How to start an online Bible study with friends
- The “I AM” statements of Jesus
- The faithfulness of God as found in Scripture and stories today
- Your top five favorite Bible verses
- Prayers in the Bible
It’s my prayer that God’s goodness and faithfulness inspire you to keep writing. He’s with us, and He’s not going anywhere. Just as He can comfort our hearts, renew our zeal for writing, and equip us with just the right messages, we can inspire others to depend on Him, persevere, and share the message of hope with those around them.
So keep writing, dear writer. Now is the time to share hope and to point our audience to the One who can help them through any storm they face, including a pandemic.
Which of the ten topics would you want to blog about?
*All Scripture verses are NKJV.
