Other traditionally published books include 365 Ways to Love Your Child: Turning Little Moments into Lasting Memories (Revell) and a homeschooling devotional from several years ago.
Four children's educational books published by The Creative Company released in mid-July and will be in public school libraries in the fall. With other book projects and two co-authored devos with Michelle Cox, Julie has 15 published book titles.
Julie's short-works writing credits include 146 articles or stories in 33 unique print publications and 16 compilations, over 1000 newspaper articles, 145 curriculum lessons in 21 Group Publishing, Incorporated teacher resource books, and three monthly website posts for parenting, homeschooling, or writing websites and magazines. Her most recently-published shortform article appeared on WritersDigest.com last year.
After winning the 2014 Guideposts Writing Contest, Julie Lavender, along with eleven other winners, traveled to NY for a week-long training session with Guideposts senior editors. Since that time, she's been published in all four of their major magazine publications, on the GP online website, in Christmas SIP publications, and in several of their compilations. She writes annually for their All God's Creatures Devotionals, as well as other devotional magazines and compilations.
Jim Hinch, GP Senior Editor, has given Julie permission to attend writers conferences as a Guideposts Ambassador, representing Guideposts under the title of "Guideposts Contributing Writer." Though she would not serve as an acquisitions editor, in his words, Julie can "offer [her] expertise as a veteran GP writer and encourage people to write for the magazine." Even before GP began this "ambassador" title, Julie taught, with their approval, a popular Writing For Guideposts class at several writing conferences in the past. Guideposts provided Julie with sample copies of magazines to share with one-on-one appointments and in her classes.
Julie was a guest on Focus on the Family Broadcast in 2022 about her book published with Revell/Baker. She's served as a guest on many podcasts, blogs, or radio interviews in the past.
After writing for almost four decades, Julie loves helping beginning authors succeed and cheering them on to "never give up." She also loves encouraging veteran authors with new writing ideas and opportunities.
