Blue Ridge Readers (blog)

By Heather Kreke @HKreke

Yesterday we talked about the Blue Ridge Reader Connections now I’m going to tell you about a special part of the BRRC  we call the Blue Ridge Readers.

Blue Ridge Readers

Book reviews are the life blood of every author. They are the “word of mouth” so many writers depend upon to get their books read. One of the awesome features of BRRC will be connecting authors with reviewers. These special volunteers will be gifted a copy of the book in their preferred format. In exchange the reviewer is asked to post a review on as many different social media sites, retail sites, and book lover sites as possible.

Quick tips for writing a review

Most sites, like amazon and Goodreads, have a set format to follow, but here are a few general guidelines.

  • Title your review
  • Start with a few sentences that tell what the book is about. (Please NO spoilers)
  • State what you liked about the book.
  • Round up your review.
  • Most platforms provide a rating system, make Sure you rate the book. If the platform does not provide a rating system, you can rate it yourself. For example “I give this book a 5/5″.

Clean Writing

BRRC is dedicated to promoting clean writing. All books on this site will follow this definition: A clean read is defined as having no: explicit sexual content, profane or coarse language, or gratuitous violence. Spiritual matter and all other material should be aligned with, or not in opposition to Christian theology. Please do not sign up to be a reviewer if you do like this type of book.

What if I don’t like the book?

We have all read books we don’t like before. There are no strings attached to the gifting of a book for a review. If you find you did not enjoy a book you were asked to review, we ask you follow the old adage about saying nothing if you can’t be nice.

I’m In!

If you would like to be a reviewer for BRRC please send an email to brreaderconnection@gmail.com. We will be in touch with more information.
