BRMCWC 2025 Mentoring and Paid Critique

The Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference is offering mentoring and paid critiques.

Mentoring Rules and Guidelines

The Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference is pleased to offer first-time or returning conferees optional one-on-one mentoring. (Direct link to Mentoring & Critique page)

These planned sessions help writers experience a successful conference with preparation tips and mentoring before the event.

We offer registered conferees an optional opportunity to engage with faculty who have agreed to mentor conferees for one hour at an affordable rate of $70.00. This is paid directly to the faculty member. These trained professionals mentor conferees in the following areas:

  • Counsel and advice conferees on how to prepare for an agent/editor meeting.
  • Guide a conferee in creating a one-sheet, proposal, or synopsis.
  • Some faculty members offer their services to review what the conferee has prepared and offer feedback.
  • Additional areas of mentoring based on the faculty’s expertise.

Conferees can scroll down below to find participating mentors, their topics, and email addresses. Contact the faculty member directly to schedule and arrange payment for your mentoring session. Click here to view the faculty members offering mentoring.

Paid Critiques

(Direct Link to Mentoring and Critique Page)

You will be truly blessed by our faculty. Each faculty has stated the number of critiques they are willing to do and the cutoff date for receiving them. The total means the total number of critiques a faculty member will accept across the categories, not the total of each type. Please pay close attention to the deadlines. Some of the faculty have listed the latest they are willing to receive critiques.

To submit your material for critique, please follow the guidelines below:

  1. Properly format your submission. With the exception of poetry, children’s picture books, and scripts, submissions should be double-spaced, presented in a 12-pt. serif font (like Times New Roman or similar) with one-inch margins all around. Scripts and plays should be submitted in standard film or A/V format.
  2. Please limit size of submissions as listed below. Longer submissions will not be read. (See categories for specifics.)
  3. Email the faculty member and include BRMCWC 2024 Critique Submission in the RE: line. Be sure to attach your submission in a .doc file format.
  4. Critiques cost $35. The faculty member will provide you with their mailing address or their finance app information (such as PayPal). Your payment will go directly to the faculty member prior to the conference. If the faculty member has not received payment by the date of the conference—unless other arrangements have been made—they are not required to meet with you.
