Fight to Write

@BisbanoWrites

Grief paralyzes. I want to forget the sting of death. I’ve been to too many funerals this month, I said to myself, as I remember the blank faces of friends and family who don’t know Jesus.  My heart aches for those with no hope of heaven.

My favorite Netflix program beckons me, and the story of my favorite character lures me. I need to forget the pain for a while. My body won’t move from the chair, and Ihave no strength to cry.

Fight to write, theHoly Spirit impressed on my heart.

I ignore his pleading and continue to escape reality.

Shut the program off and fight to write, echoes in my head.

I shut the television off and pray for inspiration.

As I pray, I think of each of you. I know you have experienced deep sorrow, maybe to the point of not wanting to write. I implore you—Fight to Write.

The world needs to hear expressions of grief. Did you lose a spouse, child, mother, father, job, or your identity? Fight to Write.

As writers, we can help others understand the process. These writers help me express my angst and give me hope:

“Tears shed for another person are not a sign of weakness. They are a sign of a pure heart.” ― José N. Harris, MI VIDA: A Story of Faith, Hope andLove

“I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.” — Anne Frank

“It found no peace in song or laughter, none in the company of friends at tableor in the pleasures of love, none even in books or poetry. Everything that was not what my friend had been wasdull and distasteful. I had heartonly for sighs and tears, for in them alone I found some shred of consolation.” ― St. Augustine

“When he left us, he stole all the words.” ― Alex George, Setting Free the Kites

“There was no one clear point of loss. It happened over and over again in a thousand small ways and the only truth there was to learn was that there was no getting used to it.” ― Ann Patchett, State of Wonder

“Suffering is one of life’s great teachers.” ― Bryant McGill

“That’s how it felt – that the loss of him had a life of its own. I lived with it as I could have lived with him. Some nights it was quiet andsometimes it pounded on my door.” ― Kimberly Novosel, Loved

“Pain is pain…Just because one person’s problem is less traumatic than another’s doesn’t mean they’re required to hurt less.” ― J.A. Redmerski The Edge of Never

“My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows weak because of all my foes.” –David, The Bible

“Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.” –Jesus, The Bible

Do any of these quotes resonate with your pain? If so, see how an author’s words can help others. If not, maybe someone is waiting for you to write about your loss or grief. I plead with you, Fight to Write.

Perfect submission. There are so many things in our world that scream “look at me instead.” Listening to the call to write must be an imperative. Thank you.
