Recently we’ve shared writing quote memes from Edie and Alycia. This week, we have more from both ladies.
Before we look at those, let’s talk about the pictures.
You don’t have to be a professional photographer to take photos to use for memes. Most of us take pictures on our iPhones or Androids on a daily basis. Pics of the kids. Pics of the sunrise. Of our dinner. Of our job sites. Pics of our coffee. You get the picture.
Here are a few tweaks you can make when taking those photos so they will work for creating memes:
- Frame the photo so there is “white space” for you to use for the words you’ll add to it in order to create the meme.
- Keep it clean. A busy photo will make it difficult to see the words you’re putting over it. If you have a busy photo, you will need to use an overlay and fade it out in order for the words to show up in the meme.
- Think in thirds. Divide the photo into three, either vertically or horizontally. For example, if you’re at the beach, make a third of your photo the sand, a third the waves, and a third the sky. Put three people in the photo and have each one take up a third of the photo space. That is what I mean by think in thirds. It keeps the photo clean.
- Think of a subject that would go well with your text. You want to compliment the words with the photo so that it makes sense to the viewer.
Let’s take a look at the writing quotes memes. While doing so, consider the tips provided above.
“A writer wanders. And a once-lost story finds a home.”
Robert Benson
“Not all who wander are lost.”
J.R.R. Tolkien
“Imagination is like a muscle. I found out that the more I wrote, the bigger it got.”
Philip Jose Farmer
“You’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So…get on your way!”
