The holiday season means new ways to market and promote you and your book while seeking to meet reader needs. We look around us and the excitement for the upcoming events can be overwhelming, but let it not be so!

The following tips to launch your seasonal marketing and promotion are designed to be fun and easy. To avoid being lost in the marketing and promotion, I encourage you to use a spreadsheet to develop your plan—now. 😊

Seasonal Themed Content

  • Explore holiday promotions: consider fall, harvest, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s.
  • Update your marketing and promotion materials with the colors of the season to show a festive mood. This includes your blog posts, memes, book promotion, Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms. You might find online tools like Book Brush or Canva *Keep the template or color scheme for next year, then tweak for a new presentation.

Social Media

  • Create posts that engage the reader according to the season. A live online event with giveaways and fun encourage interaction.
  • Seek guest blog posts with seasonal-themed content that meet reader needs.
  • Use hashtags that reflect the season. #fallreads, #autumnbooks, #Christmasreads, #NewYearsbooks are just a few.

  • Add seasonal content, special offers, events, recipes, decorating ideas, budget-friendly shopping, and inspiration.

  • Schedule book signings, workshops, and library events that focus on your book and the season.

  • Partner with coffee shops, boutiques, or other retail outlets for cross-promotion

  • Reach out to other authors to bundle books for a giveaway with an online or face-to-face event.
