As Christmas nears and we become too busy to think properly, it can be easy to forget our social media posts. Rather than drop the ball, I’ve come up with a list that will hopefully help you create simple and quick posts to provide your followers with some Christmas cheer.
M – Memes – Whether funny pictures with even funnier sayings, inspirational photos with Scripture verses or quotes, or a link to your recent blog post, memes are a great way to encourage others this holiday season.
E – Elves on Shelves – Even though I don’t have an Elf on a Shelf, I love seeing the creative ways people use these little guys and girls. Some make me laugh out loud, while others leave me astounded at the genius of some people.
R – Reminders – The season is all about Jesus. Sometimes, in the middle of a holiday rush or the madness of shopping or the insanity of preparing for the in-laws’ arrival, we need a reminder that it isn’t about us. It’s about God’s love for us … and those we know and choose to love. Whether a short verse or gentle statement, reminders are a great thing to share on social media.
R – Reading – What book are you reading right now? Is it moving you? Have you seen advertisements for books you’ve loved that are currently marked down? Share the links. Many people love to read and will be receiving gift cards for Christmas. It’s a great time to promote that author you admire.
Y – Yumminess – Recipes. Recipes. Recipes. We’re all baking and cooking Christmas dinner. Have a favorite? Share a link and include a picture of the one you made.
C – Crafts – Have you found something you love at an online or local store? Do you have a favorite knitting pattern for a scarf that’s easy to make? Do you know a great craft for kids that moms may love to try with their little ones at a family gathering? Post links to crafts so others may enjoy them too.
H – Heraldries – What do you have to praise God for this year? Now’s a great time to reflect on His goodness and to share the blessings you’ve encountered or received this past twelve months. Use the 12 Days of Christmas as a foundation for your sharing. Start 12 days prior to Christmas, and post 12 things the first day, 11 the second, and so on until you post your final thing you’re thankful for on Christmas morning.
R – Reindeer & Other Christmas Pets – Who doesn’t love a cute pet picture? And if you have a pet reindeer, I’d love to see that one.
I – Inspiration – What inspires you? Music? Photography? Quotes? Devotions? Have you found something online that has touched your heart? Share it with others by providing a link. Did your pastor say something awesome at church this week? Share that.
S – Songs – We all have our favorite Christmas songs. Mine’s How Many Kings by Downhere. Share a link to the YouTube video.
T – Trees & Ornaments – Do you have an ornament that has sentimental value? Let others have a glimpse. Share a photo and explain why it means so much to you.
M – Memories – What are your favorite Christmas memories? Write a little paragraph about one. Include a photo if you have one.
A – Announcements – Anything fabulous to announce to the world? First book contract? First grandchild born this year? Getting married? Moving to Alaska? Share something God’s doing in your life in this moment. Let others celebrate with you.
S – Shopping Tips – As we all count down to Christmas, we’re checking our lists – twice. Any last-minute shopping tips? Found a good deal online? Know where all the sales are and how to get good deals on items? Share a tip or two. I’m sure those of us who are shopping Christmas Eve will want to know where the last box of candy canes is located.
What other social media posts can you think of that would be great for Christmas sharing? We’d love to know! [reminder]
